The settlement was two years in the making. R&E obtained a property tax assessment reduction for the prior tax year and a two-year tax class change. Our reduction resulted in tax savings of 18%. The Department of Finance had classified the property as an apartment building. R&E successfully convinced the City that it is a mixed-use property that should be classified as an office building, and thus taxed at the lower commercial rate.
