Rosenberg & Estis, P.C., New York City’s largest real estate law firm, served as legal counsel to The Durst Organization in a deal to relocate ION Media to the top of the 408-foot spire that caps the 1,776-foot One World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan.

Robert M. Kessler, member, Jean S. Tom, of counsel, and associate of R&E represented The Durst Organization in this transaction. Robert Becker and John Lyons handled the negotiations for Durst Broadcasting LLC.

One World Trade Center, which was developed by The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and which is managed, operated, and leased by The Durst Organization, provides an unparalleled platform for high definition broadcasting, as well as future wireless spectrum applications. The tallest building in the western hemisphere, One World Trade Center offers advanced communications and technology infrastructure and an unobstructed 360-degree signal to the tri-state region.

To date, the R&E telecommunications subspecialty team consisting of Mr. Kessler, Ms. Tom and others has worked on more than 30 television and radio broadcast license agreements for The Durst Organization on its One World Trade Center and 4 Times Square towers.

R&E has a specialty in broadcast and telecommunications leasing and licensing in New York City, and has completed numerous and varied telecommunications agreements on behalf of property owners. The firm regularly represents building owners in the preparation and negotiation of broadcast license agreements, access agreements, building space license agreements and the like, for telecommunications providers to gain access into buildings to mount, build out and/or install equipment and wireless facilities, including but not limited to cell phones, television signals and fiber optic networks, in order to provide service to tenants at those buildings or to the public.
