University Inks 55,000-Square-Foot Expansion for Weill Cornell Medical College
Rosenberg & Estis, P.C. served as legal counsel to Cornell University in its 55,000-square-foot expansion at 156 William Street. The college pursued the lease expansion for its Weill Cornell Medical College, which now occupies 85,000 square feet within the Class A, 250,000-square-foot office building.

Cornell University signed a long-term lease to expand the occupancy of its Weill Cornell Medical College at 156 William Street by 55,000 square feet, bringing its total occupancy at the building to 85,000 square feet. The transaction includes 41,000 square feet of office space and 14,000 square feet of retail space, with the retail portion housing a medical imaging center.
The 12-story 156 William Street was designed by Emery Roth & Sons and constructed in 1955. Macklowe and LaSalle Investment Management bought the 250,000-square-foot office property in 2013. Ownership later divided 156 William Street into two condo units, selling one 57,000-square-foot unit to the Blue School and retaining ownership of the other.
