Nicholas Kamillatos, member of Rosenberg & Estis, P.C., is a featured speaker in a panel discussion at a meeting of the Small Property Owners of New York. The October 21, 2015 seminar, titled “The Rent Act of 2015,” will address recent changes to the Rent Stabilization statutes after the measure was signed into law in June by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
SPONY invited Kamillatos to help organization members better understand their property rights in light of these complex and potentially costly amendments to the rent regulations that apply to their properties. Topics will include the deregulation of high-rent, or luxury, residential units; vacancy allowance rent increases; preferential rents; and recent court decisions that affect the timing and circumstances when high-rent apartments can be deregulated.
“Deregulating apartments is an important statutory right for owners of rent-regulated residential multi-family properties,” said Kamillatos. “It is particularly important to SPONY members.”
