Real Property Tax Certiorari Caseload Trends in NYC

Pending real property tax certiorari cases in New York City have reached a record high of 2,088, which is double the amount of five years ago. Manhattan has 68% of pending cases, and the four outer boroughs have 32%.

The number of filings also reached a record high in 2024, and up +65% in one year.

YTD dispositions dropped -31%, mostly in Manhattan. None were by Trial Verdict, 4 were by Motion, and 161 were by Settlement.
