Rosenberg & Estis, P.C. member Jack Rose will present at the upcoming Commercial Law League of America’s national convention program, COVID, Calamity and the Code: New Challenges in Distressed Real Estate. Rose will offer insight on the growing distress in real estate at the May 12 panel with other leading experts in bankruptcy and reorganization.

The panel will address issues affecting real estate during the Covid-19 pandemic in pre-bankruptcy and bankruptcy cases. Topics for discussion include rent abatement and payment, force majeure clauses, and business interruption insurance litigation. The panel will also cover a recent trend in real estate bankruptcies to complete a case in under 40 days, and whether this trend might continue. A veteran in bankruptcy and restructuring, Rose will provide practical insight and guidance.

“We are experiencing unprecedented distress in the real estate market due to the widespread economic impact of the pandemic,” said Rose. “It is critical for all parties involved to understand the nuances of bankruptcy as they negotiate this process.”

Rose joined Rosenberg & Estis, P.C. in 2019 and is a member and leader with the firm’s Reorganization & Bankruptcy Department. He has more than 30 years of experience in bankruptcy and distressed situations. Rose is actively involved in many of the nation’s largest bankruptcies, representing landlords, tenants, lenders, financial institutions, domestic and foreign banks, acquirers, investors, debtors and creditors.
