U.S. Supreme Court Allows Government to Enforce Corporate Transparency Act

by | Jan 23, 2025 | Industry Updates

Earlier today, January 23, 2025, the United States Supreme Court stayed the nationwide preliminary injunction that had blocked enforcement of the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) and its beneficial ownership information (BOI) reporting requirements. As a result, the government is now authorized to proceed with enforcing the CTA and its BOI reporting obligations.

At this time, the U.S. Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), the bureau tasked with enforcement of the CTA, has not issued a statement regarding this development or any updates on compliance deadlines. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will keep you informed of any updates.

If you have any questions about the CTA, please feel free to contact your trusted Rosenberg & Estis, P.C. attorney or William R. Byers, Member of the firm’s Transactional Department, who authored the above on the CTA.
