In this week’s episode of Inside R&E, Member Alexander Lycoyannis debuts his Real Talk NYC segment with Basha Gerhards, Senior Vice President of Planning at the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY), for a high-level discussion on the major issues facing the NYC real estate industry today. Together they hone in on the growing housing crisis along with the residual effects of the expiration of 421-a, among many other topics.
In addition to his advocacy for clients and the real estate industry, Alex (together with Founding Member Gary M. Rosenberg) is the co-author of the New York Law Journal’s “Landlord-Tenant” column, which reviews and analyzes the latest case law and other important developments affecting New York landlord-tenant law.
Basha leads REBNY’s policy work on issues related to housing, land use, zoning, resiliency, and community development. Her work has helped to secure City and State legislation expanding access to housing vouchers and advance major projects delivering much-needed housing for New Yorkers.
