Alexander Lycoyannis was invited to present an update on Good Cause Eviction before members of the New York Association of Realty Managers (NYARM). This webinar was a comprehensive follow-up to NYARM’s February 2022 program addressing GCE. While reinforcing the potential negative impact on property owners should GCE pass, Alex indicated that the State’s political focus has shifted toward Governor Hochul’s legislative priorities, citing, among other things, the recently proposed Commercial to Residential Conversions (RPTL 467-m) program. Alex also stated that instead of the Legislature considering GCE as standalone legislation (as occurred in 2022), advocates may utilize the GCE bill this year as a negotiating “price” for the passage of the Governor’s housing package.
