Madeleine Karel joined Rosenberg & Estis, P.C. in 2014 and is an associate with the firm’s Transactional Department.  Madeleine’s practice involves all aspects of real estate transactions. Madeleine’s experience includes representing owners, developers, managers, landlords and tenants in acquisitions, dispositions, developments, financing and leasing.   

Notable Work

  • Represented New York Trans Harbor LLC, d/b/a New York Water Taxi, owned by The Durst Organization, in the sale of the New York Water Taxi business to a subsidiary of New York Cruise Lines, Inc.
  • Represented City Point Residential, LLC (an affiliate The Brodsky Organization, LLC) and Morningside Associates, LLC (an affiliate of The Brodsky Organization, LLC) in two separate loans, totaling $310 million, funding by Wells Fargo Bank NA to refinance City Point Tower 2 in Brooklyn and Enclave at the Cathedral in Manhattan.
  • Represented The Brodsky Organization in the refinance of One Columbus Place.
  • Represented a commercial real estate owner and operator in the sale of various shopping centers in Connecticut, New Jersey and Florida.
  • Represented The Durst Organization in a series of construction agreements in connection with One World Trade Center.
  • Represented a major NYC developer in connection with the sale of a portfolio of residential buildings in Greenwich Village.
  • Represented Cornell University for its Weill Cornell Medical College in leasing of properties on the Upper East Side.
  • Represented a major NYC developer in connection with the transfer of significant assets of entities holding an ownership stake in NYC residential buildings.   

Ms. Karel earned her bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Franklin & Marshall College and earned her J.D., cum laude, from New York Law School, where she served as an editor of the New York Law School Law Review.  Ms. Karel is licensed to practice law in New York.
